After The Byrds success with Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man", a lot of bands saw this as an avenue to success. Spokane's Mark 5 would record this wild version of "Maggie's Farm" in 1965, and release it on Ned Neltner's own Jani label. Bob Dylan would go electric in 1965, and "Maggie's Farm" was one of the three selections he performed at the Newport Folk Festival with backing from the Paul Butterfield Blues Band (much to the consternation of some of his fans). It does swing!
