Creating ways to think about abstract art while learning about Piet Mondrian for Elementary School. Age/ grade for this project is simply a suggestion and may be used for other age groups.

Piet Mondrian was a famous Dutch painter and is best known for his 1920’s abstract works of art featuring only horizontal and vertical lines. He began his artistic career as a traditional landscape painter and as with many creators, was influenced by other artists. One such influence was Pablo Picasso and his work in Cubism.

Today we read the book Coppernickel Goes Mondrian and then created our very own artwork using our name, horizontal and vertical lines painted in Primary Colors just like Piet Mondrian.
