Feed the Cows: A Feed the World Virtual Field Trip

Описание к видео Feed the Cows: A Feed the World Virtual Field Trip

Good feed makes good food!

Middle and high school science classrooms can virtually visit cattleman Ben Klick's Ohio farm to learn how he provides cattle with a balanced, nutrient-rich diet of carbs, protein, and fiber using corn that's been used to make ethanol. On Windy Way Farms, Ben grows his crops to feed his cattle– and this cycle is full of SCIENCE!

In this 45-min LIVE visit, attendees will:
1. see the beef industry in action
2. learn biosynthesis of macromolecules
3. ask questions ahead of time and hear them answered live

By the end of the visit, students will:
• Know…how ethanol byproducts (distillers' grains) are used in animal feed operations like beef production
• Understand…how fermentation removes starches from corn to leave a valuable feed product behind that is high in fiber and protein
• Be able to…connect how macromolecules play a significant role in raising high quality beef for human consumption
