Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has criticized Western countries over Afghanistan, urging them to return the country’s frozen assets, lift sanctions, and take responsibility for post-conflict reconstruction.

He also called the presence of foreign military forces in Afghanistan “absolutely unacceptable,” warning it could lead to instability and new conflicts.

The statements came during the seventh Moscow Format consultations, which included Russia, China, India, Iran, Pakistan, and other regional nations, with the Afghan delegation participating for the first time this year.
