How to replace rear pads and rotors on a VW Volkswagen Atlas

Описание к видео How to replace rear pads and rotors on a VW Volkswagen Atlas

Hello everyone and welcome back to ‪@AutoScholarwithMrB‬ ! So today we are looking at replacing the brake pads and rotors on this 2019 Volkswagen Atlas. For the most part, this is an easy job with the exception of having to use a scan tool to retract the pistons in the parking brake. You don't even need to take the caliper bracket off. If you do have to remove the bracket for any other reason, just remember that the triple square bolts have to be replaced because they are torque to yield bolts.

Other scan tools can be used for this, but the scan tool I used was the Snap-On Zeus. My Autel would have worked but it is only updated to 2018. I have shown me using the Zeus because I will use this video while teaching my students who will be using the Zeus. No matter what you use, be sure to follow the instructions and keep the battery from discharging. Using a jump box or even another battery with jumper cables will work as well. If the battery falls below 12 volts, it can cause problems!

Be sure to pump the brakes before you drive and check the brake fluid level.

Torque specs:
Caliper bolts, 7mm hex head - 35 newton meters
Rotor fastening bolt T30 torx head - 8 newton meters
Wheel lug bolts, 17mm head - 120 newton meters, torqued in a star pattern
Caliper bracket bolts, triple square head - 90 newton meters and 90 degrees. Caliper bracket bolts are not reusable and do not need to be removed for this job!

Brake parts were sourced from Amazon due to the parts being on back order from the dealer at time of repair.
