Our first Tech Features Video will focus on one of the most troubling aspects of electronic discovery facing today's practitioner, the multitude of ESI formats.

Today the old Microsoft office documents of email, word processing documents, powerpoint presentations seem classic. Today we have a proliferation of social media posts and information collected on our smart phones with a growing majority of them being video and audio files. In fact, video is rapidly becoming one of the most prevalent forms of ESI.

While video is often critically important, the vast majority of video is not important. Litigation clients need to be able to figure out why to streamline the managed e-discovery review process. We were seeing this in all kinds of cases ranging from commercial cases to government investigations. It is the short video clips that seem to be important, not extended minutes or hours of a recording.

UF Law's E-Discovery Project's Bill Hamilton and iConect's Ian Campbell look at this review problem and Ian shares what iConect has done to address this review problem with their integrated software product, Xera.

Although there are many challenges associated with ESI multimedia review, developing a workflow and using an E-Discovery software product like iConect's Xera can help to reduce the costs associated with multimedia e-discovery review.
