► It has been a staple of our high street for almost 60 years, but now Mothercare has become the latest retailer to succumb to financial pressure.

The baby goods chain has revealed it is on the verge of collapse, putting 2,500 jobs at risk, just weeks before Christmas.

It is another nail in the coffin for the British high street as another big brand says they have struggled to keep the business afloat.
