After our crazy run in with the Secret Service we anchored and put out a second anchor to hold us in the blow. Gusts over 30 mph over night and then a cold front came through and spun us around 180 degrees. It was warm in the boat! Temps didn’t get very low. Pete slept on the couch and I attempted to sleep down below, but it was a rocky night. At 6 am we were awakened by the alarms going off on our phones! We had thunderstorms and rain for a while but now it was a tornado warning! Pete shouted down to me about it and I replied, “Well I’m already in the basement! I don’t know where else I should go!” Just then our anchor alarm went off, and it just told us we’d been spun. It wasn’t a comfortable anchorage and we left pretty early. The homes along this stretch of the ICW are just as impressive as they were south of here. In fact when we got to Jupiter Island we found that we’d passed Tiger Woods’ house. The only issue we encountered today on our voyage was the winds. It was super gusty and it makes it a bit of a challenge to drive this boat in those conditions. (For me) Peter has no issues with it. Again the houses, the boats, all of this is really impressive. At one point Pete said, “I can’t wait until we get back home where we have a big boat!” When we arrived at the island we saw a wonderful sandbar to get Gracie to shore. She didn’t get there yesterday or this morning. There were some locals enjoying St. Patty’s Day on the sand bar, and we talked with a few of them. When we told them that we’d taken the boat from Wisconsin one of the guys said, “That is so BAD ASS!” The balance of the day was relaxing in this protected anchorage and reading and playing games. It was a much needed break from the daily grind. All is good!
