These are the first US casualties in Afghanistan in 18 months and the deadliest day for the US military since 2011. Analysts say that America’s 20-year-long war has failed to rid Afghan soil of terrorism. Biden has defended his decision by saying that the withdrawal of Americans is important to save every life possible. The tumultuous US exit has lowered Biden’s approval ratings, and the twin blasts have exposed him to political criticism at home.
