This makes three very large fish that we've hooked into this week while fishing for snook around bridges. Two of these monster fish were landed, a snook and now the massive stingray that is featured in this video. My son the other night hooked into the largest fish he's ever had while fishing with a pink jig. While he was fighting the monster he commented, " DAD THIS THING IS HUGE", sounded like a South Florida Kia sale commercial!

I did some early morning fishing around two different bridges the other day and lost four fish, three snook and a decent sized barracuda, all on a white jig. As I was traveling home I started thinking about why I lost the fish? I was then reminded of something the SpoolTek creator said in a video. He shared that for years he had fished with heavy ounce jigs and lost a lot of fish due to them thrashing their heads around thus throwing the hook. He concluded that it was the weight of the jig head flopping back and forth that caused him to lose so many fish. So, he embarked on an journey to invent a lure where the heavy head would slide away from the hook when a fish was hooked, thus SpookTek was created.

I have to tell you I was so hoping for the huge stingray I caught in this video to be a grouper. It's known that people catch very large gag grouper around the bridge we were fishing on. When I first set the hook on this massive stingray it felt like I was hung up. Then I felt something tugging very heavily and realized I had a huge fish on the line. The grouper that people have been catching around this bridge have been caught on the snook jigs we were fishing with. I'm not sure if the are catching them on the pink ones or a different color pattern?

The stingray I landed is by far the largest one I've ever caught, making it my personal best. I'm estimating that it weight close to sixty pounds. That thing was thick, long and very wide. I don't know about you, but I hate catching stingrays. Why? Well, they are so dangerous to handle if you don't know how. Luckily for me I've watch several videos on how to get them of of the hook without getting a barb launched into my skin.

So, three fishing trips using pink jigs produced three amazing fish stories that my son and I will remember for our lifetimes.
