CONVERSATIONS WITH DR DORA: LIVING WITH ALBINISM

If you missed Sunday's episode of Conversations With Dr. Dora at 19:00hrs, we featured Mirriam kumwenda who is living with Albinism.

Mirriam was abducted in 2018 by known men from her house in Chama. After knocking her out, they begun to cut off her left hand. Halfway through, they switched to her right hand which they totally cut off.

Later it was learnt that the five men, including a teacher, were sent by a witch doctor from Malawi who apparently had a customer for the hand; the five men were asked to deliver the right hand separated as bone, flesh and fat.
The common myth is that witchdoctors use the right hand of a person living with albinism to make 'get rich quick' charms. The men were arrested and sentenced to 25 years imprisonment.
