This rope series By Anna Bones provides the foundations for your practice. While this class is aimed at beginners, we encourage everyone to take some time to brush up on the basics.

In the "Rope as a Language" class, Anna Bones teaches how to bring more nuance to your tying with simple rope and body handling techniques with her model Nuur.

When it comes to shibari, knowing how to tie various knots and frictions is just one part of the practice. Arguably as important is knowing how to handle your rope and understanding how different ways of using speed, tension and tempo can create different sensations and even emotions for your partner, so setting the tone for various types of play. During the course of the class, Anna shares her insights into how rope can be a form of communication.

In the "Form and Ropes" class, Anna Bones teaches the fundamentals of tying with the contours of your partner’s body with her model Nuur.

Learning good tying habits early on will put you on an advantageous footing as your shibari practice advances. One such habit is understanding that the idea is not to place your rope in straight lines across the body and starting to observe the shape of the body to guide your rope placement instead. This class is dedicated helping beginners not only master this important skill but also understand why and how to apply it as they progress, with emphasis on tying the torso and hips. As Anna explains, this is an explorative exercise, akin to drawing on the body with the rope.
