Spencer Spit State Park, Lopez Island, WA | Beautiful beach | 1.5 mile hike

Описание к видео Spencer Spit State Park, Lopez Island, WA | Beautiful beach | 1.5 mile hike

Spencer Spit State Park is located on the eastern shore of Lopez Island. It covers 138 acres including 2 sand spits which enclose a salt water lagoon.

I really enjoyed visiting this park! It’s a convenient place to visit before getting in line for the ferry to Anacortes. You park near the restrooms and then there’s a short hike down to beach. After eating my picnic lunch, I walked out to the end of the spit and back - total was 1.5 miles, easy.

I learned a bit about the geological history of the spit and since the tide was pretty low I walked out as far as I could to the end of the spit. It was windy, but with lots of sunshine.

The park offers wonderful beach access, kayak rentals in season, and tent camping.
* The park is closed yearly from October to March.*

In olden times Native Americans would stop here to clam, crab, and fish.
