This is another CMC Pro-Tip in which we connect a prusik directly to a pulley without using a carabiner. Traditionally we use a prusik as a rope grab and then attach a carabiner and a pulley to that in a mechanical advantage. A way to save a carabiner is to girth hitch the prusik cord directly to the ProSwivel Pulley. It's important to make sure that the stitching or protective plastic cover on the prusik cord doesn't end up on the girth hitch where it's attached to the pulley or on the prusik hitch where it's attached to the rope. This is a quick and simple way to save or reduce the amount of hardware used to build a mechanical advantage system.

Be sure to check the connection point on the pulley to make sure there are no burs or sharp spots that could cut or damage the prusik.
