The Lunar Series continues with the 2023 Year of the Rabbit!

The Lunar Series celebrates the 12 animals of the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The designs feature a fierce twist on each animal that is not found in other programs at sovereign and private mints.

The Chinese Lunar Calendar, or Chinese Zodiac, follows a 12-year cycle that starts with the Year of the Mouse and ends with the Year of the Pig. As such, each animal appears on the calendar every 12th year.

Additionally, each of the 12 animals in the zodiac comes in five variations representing the five major elements: wood, water, fire, earth, and metal. 2023 marks the return of the Water Rabbit, its first appearance since 1963.

In Chinese culture, each animal possesses unique attributes believed to pass on to those born that year. Those born under the sign of the rabbit, the fourth animal in the Chinese zodiac, are said to be compassionate, kind, and wise. They are honest and trustworthy but can sometimes be cautious about sharing too much about themselves.

Each round is produced in .999 fine silver. In keeping with the series' robust twist on Lunar designs, the obverse of the Year of the Rabbit depicts a strong, powerful rabbit in mid-stride as it appears to bound out of the design field. The Chinese kanji for rabbit is also inscribed.

The common reverse for the series features a beautiful eastern design encircled in a Chinese scroll frame, surrounding the Chinese kanji for the Lunar animal.

The Lunar Series releases are launched annually in late summer/early fall. Each release is minted to demand. Get yours today on JMBullion.com!
