Soumitra Chatterjee says "No. it wasn't. What happened was that when he decided to make this film he told me that look I am going to make a film of that script which I wrote for your magazine 25-years-ago. So, I am going to update it and then I am going to make a film out of it. There is this role of three brothers which has very few spoken words maybe 20 or 25 lines. But I want someone very dependable so I want you to play it."

An icon of Bengali cinema and one of the most venerated actors in the country, Soumitra Chatterjee has immortalised a plethora of characters over the course of a career spanning around six decades. A recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and French government`s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres honour, the National Film Award-winning actor is perhaps best known for his association with legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, with whom he worked in as many as 14 films.
