How-To Alternative Build for Broad Top Mountain Models second kit, created by Banta Modelworks. It is an imagineered mining and milling western complex's power house.

Kit is well organized, with walls and roofs grouped in separate bags.
Instructions suggest mounting the structure to the machine shop, but stand alone structure could be constructed.
Adhesives used were Titebond III wood adhesive, 3M Super 77 for battens and metal roofing, or ACC superglue as necessary.
Micro Krystal Klear was used to attach window material from the backside.

Optional steps include:
Stacks changed to one shorter stack, and roof reversed 180 degrees.
Stand-alone structure option so extra walls were used that were included in the kit.
Alternate colors used.
Coal storage bins added with 8x8s and 4x8s using back wall siding for panels and doors.
Grandt Line hinges, BEST Trains Oak stain, and back wall cut up for coal bin parts.
Roof was corrgated roofing and tarpaper in different textures and colors.
Weathering added representing age.
Coal load added to coal bins.
Side dock added and extra door added.

Tips:
Read all instructions before beginning!
Test fit everything, and lay out pieces in advance to confirm assembly order.
Use new sharp blade, before cutting, and change often to reduce errors.
Use clamps, squares, rubber bands, painters tape etc. for solid joints while glue dries.
Avoid water based stains to minimize warping. Paint and alcohol stains work best.
While staining wood, lay flat with weights on top to reduce warping. Flip pieces over periodically while drying.
Fill gaps with glue, sealer or putty, and sand smooth, before painting.
Weathering can be very light to extreme, depending on era being modeled, and is always subject to personal taste.
Always experiment on scrap before weathering visible model parts.
