In a heated court hearing, Whitney Desawn Washington faced serious consequences after repeatedly failing to comply with court-ordered GPS monitoring conditions. The judge reviewed months of reports detailing how Washington let her GPS ankle monitor die, refused to charge it, failed to pay for the service, and even claimed someone cut it off and threw it away—yet never reported the incident to police.

The GPS device had reportedly been inactive since November, and despite being given multiple chances—including a new device, a payment plan, and extra time—Washington continued to violate the court’s order. The judge cited six separate reports from monitoring agencies, noting this wasn’t a one-time mistake, but rather a deliberate disregard of court rules.

Despite her claim that she was currently wearing a monitor, the court confirmed it was non-functional, which, according to the judge, is the same as not wearing one at all. The court emphasized that GPS monitoring is not optional and exists for public safety, especially when defendants are facing serious charges like theft.

After nearly three months of non-compliance, the judge revoked her bond and ordered her immediate custody. She may be released only if she gets a functioning GPS device reinstalled and begins following conditions.
