In this talk, Sucheta Dalal talks about whether the system is really giving support to ivestigative journalism to play an active role in the media, so that the media can again play a role in being the forth pillar of the democracy.

Ms.Sucheta Dalal is an ambitious and well-known figure in the field of journalism. She has a flair for both Economics and Journalism making her one of India’s best investigative journalists. As a young journalist Dalal worked in premier newspapers and magazines of the country such as the Economic Times and Fortune, India. In 1992 she broke the securities scam, which was one of the biggest financial crisis back then. She went on to co-author a book called ‘The Scam’ in 1993. Her work and contribution to the field of journalism has earned her a place in several important economic forums of the country like the ‘Investor Protection and Education Fund’ set up by the Government of India as well as the ‘Primary Market Advisory Committee’ of the Securities and Exchange Board of India. In 2006 Ms Dalal was awarded the Padma Shri for journalism bringing to light her excellence and expertise in the field.
