Fáinne Geal an Lae a traditional melody first published published by Edward Walsh in 1847 in Irish Popular Songs, and later translated into English as The Dawning of the Day. This tune was famously set to a poem Raglan Road by Patrick Kavanagh when the great folk singer Luke Kelly met the poet Kavanagh in a Dublin pub.
