5 from 1975 plus 2 - albums that empowered me to be myself
Hi Everyone,
This was going to be my playlist video for this week but then it became a more personal subject when I looked back and thought about what it was like leaving school and entering the world of work.

I was not very academic and struggled with exams and did not really know what to do. In the 1970s if you were a male and went to a comprehensive school you went into engineering as an apprentice.

I failed all the entrance exams and ended up as an electrical apprentice working in Factories across the West Midlands, these were usually heavy industry, Drop Forgings and although the 70s was great for music a lot of other things were not so good.

There was no health and safety back then and bullying at work was a daily event. I used to come home in tears trying to hold them back as my mum asked how work was. My Dad I think realised it was what he referred to as a 'Think Ear Apprenticeship' thinking it might do me good...it didn't!

However, I went from feeling lost and hopeless to feeling I could do better than this and stand up for myself. This was all possible thanks to the power of music and these albums all weaved their magic to help me see things are they really were and not how I thought they were.
