North Carolina's agricultural roots run deep. For centuries this land has been a vital part of America's farming landscape. Agriculture has always been at the heart of North Carolina's economy and culture.

But agriculture isn't just about the crops. North Carolina's agriculture industry supports thousands of jobs and is a critical part of the state’s economy. This sector contributes billions annually, underpinning the livelihoods of countless families

As we listen to the stories of dozens of North Carolinians, we’ll see how these deep agricultural roots are both a strength and a challenge as we learn about obstacles along the way such as high input costs, regulatory burdens, energy, and housing costs.

The COVID-19 pandemic and uncertainty created by broad and often arbitrary executive orders was a stress test for North Carolina’s agricultural sector, revealing both its strengths and its vulnerabilities. Farmers faced immense pressures as supply chains were disrupted, labor became scarce, and markets changed overnight. Yet, their resilience and ingenuity shone through as they adapted to these unprecedented challenges.

Join us for Chapter 1 of Sowing Resilience, as we listen to the North Carolinians who help us keep food on our family tables.
