Have you ever had the experience of waking up in the morning and not being quite sure of where you were? Well, The Aparte Project takes this doubt about reality a bit further in their song "Butterfly Dreams"

The song plays with the idea of waking up after dreaming of being a butterfly. But reality seems to have changed in the awake state which causes quite a bit of confusion. The question is: are you a human, dreaming of being a butterfly, or are you indeed a butterfly dreaming of being a human?!

Butterfly Dreams was partly inspired by the old Chinese philosopher and poet Chuang Tzu's poem The Butterfly Dream. Chuang Tzu (c. 369 BC - c. 286 BC) - as well as The Aparte Project - asks the legitimate question: if in the dream state we believe that the dream is reality, how can we know that what we call awake is not yet another dream?
