Jeanne Wilkerson's biblical teachings came under the guidance of Pentecostal powerhouse ministers, such as Smith Wigglesworth.

The beginnings of her ministry focused on teaching the children and later progressed to a young adults' class.

The hallmark of her ministry came in 1961 when the Holy Spirit impressed upon Jeanne that emergency hours were coming upon the world and the church had very few intercessors.

She was unaware of the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, and a charismatic renewal waiting just around the corner.

Jeanne responded by withdrawing from public ministry and spending the next six years leading a prayer group in the church basement.

It was during this time of seclusion that the Holy Spirit taught Jeanne the art of intercession. She went on to lead that group of intercessors for the next 20 years. She spent the 1970s and 1980s leading citywide Bible studies.

This "handmaiden of the Lord," as she preferred to be called, was a favorite speaker at Victory Christian Center, Christ for the Nations, and Rhema Bible Training Center, and in 1986 was named International Women's Ministries' "Woman of the Year."

Jeanne Wilkerson went home to be with the Lord in April 1987.
