Think replacing a 14" x 20" panel of perforated leather on a car seat is easy? Watch legendary auto upholstery specialist, Sure Fit's Roger Acuna, perform the repair on a custom leather heated/air-cooled driver seat from a 2006 Lexus.

Complete dismantling of the seat's underside and side controls, with endless fasteners, wire ties, electrical connections and clips is Step 2 -- after pulling the seat from the car. By carefully marking up the damaged, outgoing panel portion of the seat cover, including alignment markings which get transferred to replacement leather piece, Roger achieves a sure fit practically indistinguishable from the original.

Also shown is the network of heater coil wires embedded in the upper surface of the foam seat cushion, which need to be protected during repair process.

Not shown here is the laborious methodical process of putting the seat back together after the custom perforated leather is sewn in (the leather is perforated to allow air to flow up through the seat cushion from an electric fan component mounted underneath).

Using original equipment, matching color and materials, and not skimping on any aspect is standard operating procedure at Sure Fit, which has served Burbank, California owners of classic and new vehicles since 1982.
