Who was Maryam Mirzakhani. This is a biography of the great Iranian mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani. He was the first woman to win the Fields Medal. In this video, I have given a very short biography of Maryam Mirzakhani. We are thankful to Debolina C.Bakshi for lending her voice in this podcast.

This month, the great mathematician and the first woman to win the Fields Medal, Maryam Mrizakhani passed away. Physics from Students pay a small tribute to this genius. Her demise was just at the age of 40 years, suffering from breast cancer. A great mathematician, a wonderful mother, and an inspiration in herself, her immense contribution in the field of hyperbolic geometry, the ergodic theory has influenced many to pursue their career in the field of mathematics.

This podcast is dedicated to her life and her journey, her significant contributions in mathematics, and her legacy.

Maryam Mirzakhani has become the first woman to win the Fields Medal, the mathematical equivalent of the Nobel Prize. She was a professor of mathematics at Stanford University. She as was born on 12 May 1977 and died on 14 July 2017 at the age of only 40 years. She became the first and till the date the only woman and the first Iranian to be honored with the award.
