How we survived the hottest town in Australia

This episode we are still exploring the Pilbara Region. We call in to Port Headland to grab some supplies and find a cool free camp. We explore the town and port and are blown away by the enormity of the mining operations of the Pilbara and how they are shipped out to the rest of the world.

Then it was time to head back inland to experience the hottest town in Australia. The town is full of history and an example of the will of people to withstand harsh conditions in the search of fortune. We hear about a secret World War 2 airfield and search the outback to see if we can find it.
Surprisingly, amongst this arid landscape of the northern Pilbara we find three of the most amazing free camps at Gorges.

The Pilbara is so much more than the mining industry, there is so much beauty hidden out here. The Pilbara is special and has quickly become one of our favourite parts of Australia.

On the road out of Coppins Gap, we have some misfortune and break the platform rack on the ranger. A bit of bush mechanics holds it together until we can get it fixed somewhere back in civilization.
