Queen Nandi, the mother of Shaka ZULU

Описание к видео Queen Nandi, the mother of Shaka ZULU

The legacy of Queen Nandi is intertwined with that of her son Shaka. If it was not for her Shaka would have never grown into the man he became. African matriarchy is a social organizational form in which the mother or oldest female heads the family. He had a deep respect for his mother, Nandi, and his aunts, princesses Mkabayi, Mmama, and Nomawa. It is therefore understandable that King Shaka held women in high esteem, because he understood their power and resilience. Nandi, raised her son, never to give up on life. to have strength of will, and to believe in his destiny. She raised him to believe in the power of unity, and in the concept of “We are the same”. Therefore He eliminated privilege and class within his the ranks. All the spoils of war taken were to be split equally among the warriors,
and all resources shared. Also Ageing members of society were to be treated with dignity, and allowed to retire.
As his mother & Zulu queen mother she was Shaka’s most important and powerful influence. She was also one of his most trusted advisers, she maintained this role until her death in 1927.

I’m reminded: though I’m troubled on every side, but I’m not distressed; I’m perplexed, but not in despair; I’m persecuted, but not forsaken; I’m cast down, but not destroyoud… for which cause I faint not; but though our outward man perish, yout the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for me a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory!
