Good Judy Garage Joins With Mass Shooting Families From Across America

National Compassion Fund Brought In
To Ensure 100% of Donations Go Directly to Club Q Victims

December 4, 2022 — Good Judy Garage, which has the largest GoFundMe for Club Q victims, has joined with families from 15 of the most widely publicized mass shootings in America (including those from the largest mass shootings in Colorado) to ensure that 100% of donations collected will go directly to the Club Q victims and survivors.

With the support of mass shooting families from across the country, Good Judy Garage has invited the National Compassion Fund to administer the fund and ensure an open, inclusive, and transparent process that is led by the local LGBTQ+ community.

No administration fees will be taken from donations. We know from the National Compassion Fund’s proven record that donations will be distributed equitably to the victim base. This is the only Centralized Victims Fund for Club Q victims/survivors in Colorado. It is called the Club Q Victims/Survivors Compassion Fund.

Donations can continue to be made via Good Judy Garage’s GoFundMe fundraiser or by sending a check designated for Club Q Victims to the National Compassion Fund, a 501(c)3 organization. VictimsFirst, also a 501(c)(3) organization, will pour 100% of the donations they collect for Club Q victims into this centralized fund. No administration fees will be taken.

Last week, the younger generation impacted by mass shootings flew across the country to Colorado Springs to make the public aware of the re-victimizing model for mass shooting victims that exists in Colorado, which diverts donations away from the victims to various other programs and projects the victims may never use or need. The majority of Club Q murder victims’ families do not live in the state and survivors may choose to leave Colorado Springs, so long-term investments in the community have nothing to do with them.

People do not give after a mass shooting so a nonprofit can hold onto the funds for years, collecting interest and feeding their own overhead and salaries. That is not in the best interest of victims. That is using the public’s generosity for their own purposes, not the victims’ needs.

No one wants to be handcuffed to a nonprofit for the rest of their life waiting for donations that were already intended for them. It’s like having a conservator over your funds that no court appointed.
