After starting 2-0, Auburn would face LSU looking for their first SEC home win in two years. LSU would come into the game 2-0 with 1st year head coach Nick Saban.

LSU would jump out to a 10-0 lead in the 1st quarter and build momentum while Auburn would get off to a slow start. Auburn's offense would find a spark and take a 13-10 lead at halftime. Auburn would score again on their first possession of the 3rd quarter to lead 20-10. LSU would answer back with a 45 yard TD pass from QB Josh Booty to WR Josh Reed to make the score 20-17. LSU looked to take back momentum of the game after the TD but on the kickoff Auburn's Tim Carter would have a 100 yard return for a TD to give Auburn the momentum back and take a 27-17 lead. Auburn would continue to hold off LSU's offense for the rest of the game with Auburn adding one more score by Rudi Johnson with :03 seconds left in the game to give Auburn a 34-17 win.
