Over the last 30 years there have been attempts to iron out the gendered language of the Bible. This started in 1989 with the NRSV and has continued on to the NIV, NLT and NASB. Some of the changes were very badly needed. Other changes were completely unnecessary and less than helpful. This video gives you the information to decide for yourself what you think about gender neutral/gender inclusive Bible translations. As always, think for yourself - challenge your thoughts - and see where you land.

I changed my mind on this issue twice since 2005 and this video is the reason for my latest change of mind. Lots of verses and examples given for you to wrap your mind around what has happened and why translators made these decisions. The examples range all across the Bible and give the many flavors of the adjustments made to be more inclusive with the Bible text. In some instances the changes are helpful and actually more accurate but in other instances they are less than stellar! See for yourself! Once you start moving some pieces around there are other pieces that also get moved in the shift and we need to be aware of what pieces are getting moved to make this happen.
