Museum Spotlight: Jason Klein of Historical Glassworks

Recently Glencairn Museum News interviewed Jason Klein of Historical Glassworks, located in Manheim, Pennsylvania. We asked Jason about the history of glassblowing in Bryn Athyn and his ongoing effort to recreate the famous “striated ruby” glass made in Bryn Athyn’s glassworks for Bryn Athyn Cathedral and Glencairn. He has been using a portable glass furnace to demonstrate the art of glassblowing at Glencairn since 2006, and has been featured as a master craftsman for “Workshops at Bryn Athyn,” a craft-based training course in the decorative building arts at Bryn Athyn College. Historical Glassworks was chosen to provide glasswork for several Hollywood films, including Pirates of the Caribbean, The Hobbit, and the new Ben-Hur.
