TRICKS-MAS COUNTDOWN - DAY 11 ✨

Today we are going to teach your dog Ring Toss!

Now hear me out…

Although it's not an easy trick, the process is fun, and the results are rewarding!

What you’re going to need for this trick…

You’ll need a ring toss (purchase on amazon) set, some of your dog’s favorite treats, and quality time to work on this trick.

Your dog should know to fetch to hand for this trick.

This is how it works...

1. Make your game setup by placing the rings around where you are sitting and keeping the ring toss stick close by.

2. Ask your dog to pick up the biggest ring and bring it to your hand. Mark and reward. Repeat a few times.

3. Next, cue your dog to fetch the ring but this time, move your hand over and in front of the stick and cue your dog to drop it into your hand. Try catching the ring with one hand while holding it over the ring toss stick. Don't forget to mark and reward for success.

4. You'll need to repeat these steps a few times, before moving on.

5. On the next drop to hand guide the ring to the stick and reward your dog. Gradually go from a plam up open hand to simply holding out a finger for your dog to drop into.

6. Eventually, you can point at the ringtoss stick and encourage your dog to drop onto the stick themselves.

7. From here, you can move on to the second ring once he understands that you want them to put the first one on. Stack all the rings together.

6. Eventually, you'll be able to move the rings several feet away and place the ringtoss stick on the ground. Your dog should pick up the ring and place it on the stick when you point to it.
