Ship Island Excursion from Gulfport, MS

Things that would make this excursion miserable are: 1.) Not having protective water shoes that can go from boat to sand and walk a long distance while hauling things. 2.) Things- don’t pack a lot. The walk is far and hot. Ideally wear a swim dress ladies with comfortable water shoes and wide brimmed hat. Bring one light bag with hand towel for drying. You won’t need a beach towel because the sun is so hot you dry off right away. 3.) Packing glass bottles, Too big ice chest, or Too much food. Think like a survivor. There are concessions on boat and better ones on island that are dependable and can get you through. Possibly pack an emergency sandwich and water but make the load extremely light. 4.) Not renting an umbrella and staying in shade. We stayed under umbrella and didn’t wear sunscreen. Still have a little burn on shoulders from reflection. 5.) Hauling your own chairs. There are plenty on beach. Travel light.

Other notes- Coffee is good on ferry. Water felt amazing and it was a calm and peaceful experience except for the long walk and scorching sun. There are signs on sand reminding that it is 150 degree sand. Showers are outside and good. Dressing area in bathrooms. Facilities were clean and plentiful. Would do this again.
