After a lawsuit has been filed, most likely you will have a chance to go through what is called a deposition. This is where the opposing attorney is going to have a chance to ask you questions. The role of the opposing attorney is to ask questions that are relevant and necessary to obtain information to help him or her either verify your claim or establish defenses that he or she may have against your claim. Now that is really important to understand because that attorney may ask questions very nicely and act very nicely but do be caught up that he or she is your friend. Because that attorney is not there to be your friend. That attorney is there to be your friend, that attorney is there to obtain facts that may be used against you, possibly, to assist him or her in finding a resolution to your claim. So as you listen to that attorney, make sure that you give proper responses and if you have any questions or concerns about the question that is asked of you, you can always ask that attorney to clarify. They are generally there trying to do their job the very best that they can to obtain the information necessary to help either resolve the case or find a defense to the claim that has been brought against them.
