Blueberries Really Shine as Ornamentals in Late Fall / Early Winter

Описание к видео Blueberries Really Shine as Ornamentals in Late Fall / Early Winter

In this video I show the fall color and generally discuss blueberries and huckleberries. In this case the "huckleberries are really a native species of blueberry, Vaccinium elliottii. Locally in my part of Georgia they are nearly universally known as huckleberries. In other areas of the south, they are known as Elliot's blueberries, swamp huckleberries, southern blueberries, southern huckleberries and Mayberries.

The domesticated blueberries I show are rabbit eye blueberries. Most of my rabbit eye plants are from a large bush I dug up and divided 12 years ago on a property I own near the Ogeechee River in Bulloch County. At about the same time I planted about twelve different named cultivars of the same species. They strain that I brought from the woods did so much better than the named varieties that I ended up digging up and giving most of the cultivars away. The berries were just as good but bushes from the woods were a lot healthier, more productive with much less care and water. Not having to water them as much and still get quality berries on healthy plants saves a lot of money in the city.
