Join us on-site during both a controlled burn and our land stewardship team's annual fire safety training day as they undergo the most recent burn season 🔥

Prescribed burns can only be conducted safely when weather conditions are perfect, including meadow moisture levels, air humidity, and wind strength and direction. Stewardship staff often must mobilize at a moment’s notice to prepare for and undertake a burn.

Prescribed fire more closely mimics a natural process than mowing, an alternative we use when burning is not possible. It helps control invasive species, adds nutrients back into the soil for fortified plant growth, and can even help prevent future wildfires.
