The Panther was beset by teething problems when it was deployed due to being rushed into action without sufficient testing - not least of which was a tendency for the gearbox to catch fire! - but it would evolve into a top-class medium tank which would, in time, inform decisions about design and doctrine leading to the development of the main battle tank concept. Despite its rocky start, it remains one of the most significant tank designs of WWII, alongside the M4 Sherman and the Soviet T-34.

This is the Rubicon Models Panther Ausf. D/A kit, but this would work just as well if you're building one of the Warlord Games kits with the zimmerit effect applied to the plastic. With a few simple techniques you can simulate various weathering effects as well without having to resort to specialist products; just paint and brushes in this case!
