Operation Blue Star was an Indian military operation which occurred between 1 June and 6 June 1984, ordered by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, to remove militant religious leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his militant armed followers from the Golden Temple comples. This is a past that has still not been buried, whose aftermath continues to linger on. This is a memory, the fragments of which still torment the collective conscience of a religious community. The spectre of horror, killings, chest-thumping and sacrilege has still not been exorcised and every year, the demon comes alive to torment and traumatise millions.
