Colour Code your Folders in OneDrive Online

Now you can colour code your folders in OneDrive Online and make your favourite and important folders stand out and easy to fine.

I show you how in this short video tutorial.

Something exciting happened this morning. I logged into OneDrive online and there it was. Little things do get me excited. The ability to colour-code your folders has arrived in OneDrive online. When I logged in online on my main computer this morning, I found a notification popping up showing me that folder colours are here. I'm going to show you what that looks like when you log in for the first time. I'm also going to show you how to colour-code those folders. It means that your very important folders can stand out for you when you're working in OneDrive online, and it's really exciting. I'll see you in a moment and show you how to do it.

Here I am with my OneDrive already on the screen here, and you can see that I've had great fun colour coding my Site Links folder. This is a folder that allows me access to my SharePoint sites, and I can get to my courses site for both of my brands there, my tomorrow's VA courses and my MS Office Maestro courses. And then I can get in there and I can get to all the collateral I've got for the courses that I've written or recorded.

And you can see that this is in a SharePoint site. As soon as I come in here, I'm in SharePoint. So back to my files and I want to colour-code them. Let's say that I'm going to do a five-day challenge. I might, you never know. I am going to click on it, and I am going to right-click, and I'm going to choose a folder colour. And then I can choose one of the colours, let's go for dark green. And immediately that folder turns to dark green. Now you'll see I've done it here, I've got a blue one. This was our trip to Florida recently, where I've got photographs of all the kids and I shared that folder with my family. So how do you share a folder? While we're here - let's say I want to share this with my assistant. I'll click on the folder, and I'll choose share from here, and then I'll fill in the details and share that folder. I don't need to share that with my assistant because I haven't decided exactly what that five-day challenge is going to be. But watch this space because there might well be one coming up sometime soon.

So that's how you can colour-code your folders. Now, of course, if you have your folders in a list, then you'll find the three dots and you'll find the folder colour there.
