Demonstration of a low-cost, highly efficient ceiling fan reference design based on Microchip’s dsPIC33CK Digital Signal Controller (DSC).
This design replaces a heavy ACIM with a lighter, more efficient BLDC motor running Field Oriented Control (FOC).
Advanced software features demonstrated include Initial Position Detection (IPD), Windmilling (Flying Start) and braking for improved fan operation.
