Presbyopia, is an age-related disorder, resulting in the inability to properly focus on nearby objects.

What is Presbyopis?

When the eye’s natural lens’s flexibility decreases, it is unable to properly respond to focusing on nearby objects, resulting in presbyopia.

What are the symptoms of Presbyopia?

Some of the symptoms that a person may experience may include:

• Increase in eyestrain and headaches
• Difficulty focusing on close objects
• Begin holding reading material further away in order to focus on their content

How is it presbyopia treated?

Some treatments may include the following:

• Prescription eyeglasses can be used to help refract light rays to compensate for the loss of near vision
• Reading glasses can be used if a person does not suffer from any other vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism
• Bifocal or multifocal lenses can be used if a person does suffer from additional vision issues.
