Today we made my favorite pickles...
This is my mom's recipe ;
The Brine:
3 litres/quarts water
1 litre/quarts white vinegar
3/4 cup of pickling salt
Bring all the above ingredients to a boil
Water Bath can:
You jars must be washed and sanitized for the minimum of 10 minutes. This is an important step and MUST BE DONE.
Cucumbers: This is the secret!!
KEEP YOUR CUCUMBERS COLD!
wash and clean your cucumbers washed and put into a cooler with ice for 8 hours or washed and put in the fridge for 8 hours
** you can add 1/4 tsp alum or pickle crisp to each jar
Take your jars out of the canner and put dill and garlic in the jar
put in your cucumbers into your jars.
add your brine
de bubble well
put your lid and ring and set it in the canner
Process for 10 minutes then remove lid for another 5 minutes
Set jars on a towel and let cool!
Do not open the jars for minimum of 30 days
