The J. Rockett Audio El Hombre is an overdrive aimed at the creamy, cranked amp tones heard in that little ol’ band from Texas. From Just Got Paid to I Gotsta Get Paid, Billy’s tone has always relied on a foundation of natural tube saturation and El Hombre is all about the touch sensitivity that thrives in this approach. The Bite control is more than just a Tone and can range from sizzling and aggressive to warm and bluesy without any muddiness. El Hombre’s Gain structure is influenced not only by the player’s touch but by this Bite control, providing sag that’s reminiscent of a plexi stack when both controls are increased or tones that mellow down easy in their lower settings. The pedal’s high output also allows you to simply push your amp into overdrive, making this pedal adept at so many applications beyond the Blues.
