Sketching on Colored paper adds the advantage of using a white for highlights. Creating your own painted sheets gives you endless possibilities for color and tone.

I did find the surface of the Hot Press paper to be less smooth once it had been painted on.

This is an technique I enjoyed and will be experimenting with.

MATERIALS:

PEN: A TWSBI ECO Fountain Pen with Extra Fine Nib. This is a piston fill type of pen that holds a huge quantity of ink. Higgins Eternal Ink. Water soluble.

PAPER: Size- 5"x7"
Arches 1401b Hot Press Paper with a light wash of Ultramarine and Sepia.

BRUSH: A Sakura medium size waterbrush. This brush has a reservoir in the handle. With a squeeze you can apply water to activate paints or clean the brush. Takes some practice to control the flow.

Cretacolor chalk pastel.
