Is there a science behind our acts of kindness?

In honor of Paddington in Peru, this video essay explores how the Paddington films can teach us the psychology of kindness that is much more nuanced than you think.

Deep in the heart of the Peruvian jungle, a young bear with a love for marmalade is raised by his Aunt Lucy and Uncle Pastuzo. When an earthquake leaves him without a home, Aunt Lucy sends him to London for a new life. Lost and alone at Paddington Station, he is taken in by the warm-hearted Brown family, who name him Paddington and introduce him to the wonders of city life.

On its surface, Paddington looks to just be an adaptation of a beloved children's book into a movie also made for children. But after experiencing the incredible stories of both Paddington and Paddington 2 there is a lot more than meets the eye. Both Paddington films are genuine, heartfelt, and hilarious. Not just for kids, Paddington was made with fans of all ages in mind.
