In this video, I share thirty specific learning strategies to use when learning English. The strategies include some that you might expect (like flashcards) and those that are more unexpected (like making English lesson plans or using conversation cards). I use Bloom’s Taxonomy in the Cognitive Domain to identify strategies for moving your learning to a deeper level. That sounds complicated but stay with me.

📖 In order of the shallowest learning to the deepest learning, Bloom’s Taxonomy identifies:
1. Remember
2. Understand
3. Apply
4. Analyze
5. Evaluate
6. Create

Many English language learners focus on remembering information and basic understanding but rarely participate in those deeper levels of learning, like evaluating and creating. In this video, I will review five specific learning strategies for each level of Bloom’s Taxonomy. As we progress in the video, we will learn ways to get to the deepest levels of learning.

This video addresses English language learners, but ESL instructors may also find it very useful. You’ll find many ideas you can try in the classroom immediately. Please enjoy!
