Morne Morkel Considered for India's Bowling Coach Role
Former South Africa pacer Morne Morkel is in contention to become India's new bowling coach. With extensive coaching experience, Morkel is a top choice for Gautam Gambhir, the newly appointed head coach of the Indian cricket team. Previously, Morkel coached Pakistan during the ODI World Cup in India but left the role before his contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ended.

Gambhir has reportedly requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to consider Morkel, who played 86 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 44 T20Is from 2006 to 2018. Cricbuzz confirms that discussions have taken place with Morkel, now settled in Australia. Gambhir and Morkel had a good working relationship at the Lucknow Super Giants IPL team, where Morkel was the bowling coach and Gambhir served as a mentor.

At 39, Morkel has built a strong reputation as an effective coach in both international cricket and the IPL. Retiring only in 2018, he remains well-versed in the latest techniques of the game. Gambhir, known for working with trusted colleagues, is keen on including Morkel in his coaching team.
