Sambhal MP Zia-ur-Rahman Barq's father threatened government staff over power theft detection. The MP, part of the District Electricity Committee, was fined ₹1.9 crore for using heavy appliances while meters showed zero consumption. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited imposed the fine after detecting 16 KW usage against sanctioned 4 KW capacity. The electricity connection has been cut and an FIR filed against the MP.
