The Copper Works Newlyn
It was a pleasure to spend an afternoon at the copper works. Michael and his team are hardworking and talented people. The sculpture they create varies from traditional fountains to abstract forms, to little copper boats. With flashes of fire here and hammering there, the workshop was like a thunderstorm.

I’ve tried a bit of copper work myself, I’ve beaten out a bowl from a sheet; that experience only left me more in awe of the detail and form of these copper structures. Michael loves to give back to the community around him by teaching children his craft - preserving his skills in the future generations.

These sculptures are dressing the tops of buildings, holding the flowing waters outside collages, commemorating and remembering people. The Copper Works is visited by local children, many a talented craftsman, the custodians of cruise ships and royalty... Oh, and now me too.

Many thanks to Michael, Harry and Adam.
We went home with big grins.

Thank you to Sholto.
